How one girl beat the odds and found flourishing through the love of a foster family.

The Call to Break the Cycle

When God called foster parents Kris and Brian to launch vulnerable teen girls into adulthood, they said yes to breaking the cycle of generational brokenness.

They wanted to change the outcome of young adults by helping them create a future apart from the addiction, incarceration, and other negative effects that plague the majority of those who have aged out of the foster care system.

The Power of Gospel-Centered Care

After years of emotional and physical abuse, Ally came to Kris and Brian both angry and distrusting—skeptical that she was worthy of love.

Through their dependence on Jesus constantly molding them along with the foster care training they received through Christian Heritage, Kris and Brian were able to break through Ally’s tough exterior and create the relationship she has always desperately craved and deserved.

Because of how her foster parents modeled perseverance, forgiveness, humility, and unconditional love, Ally is beating the odds and excelling at Southeast Community College as a criminal justice major and collegiate wrestler.

A Future Filled with Flourishing

The gospel-centered care she has received has not only provided her a hope and faith in Jesus, but also the opportunity to heal and process her trauma in a transformational way with aspirations of giving back someday as a future police officer.

She will use the love she has received to impact others in her community—as well as perhaps even a family of her own someday, beginning a new cycle of perseverance and hope.

Kris and Brian continue to walk alongside Ally by attending her wrestling meets, getting together for frequent dinners, sending care packages to her dorm, and attending church with her on Sundays.
